Kerrie_&_Kym.jpgOn Thursday 4th June 2009 , Kerrie Field, a Year 11 student at Port Macquarie High School, visited the Kindergarten students at Wauchope Primary. The students had been studying ‘the senses’, and Kerrie, who lost her sight at the age of 12, was able to talk to them about what it is like to live without one of your senses. Accompanied by Assistant Principal (Vision) Mr Kym Gribble and Teachers Aide Pam Williams, Kerrie was able to demonstrate some of the technology she uses to learn in the classroom, as well as take part in some fun games that used the various senses. The young students also had an opportunity to understand what it is like to be blind when they were blindfolded and given a cane and then had to rely on a friend to help them move around the school.
